A Good Friendship is not Gay

In our society, seeing gay people is now an everyday thing. On TV, in public, and online; gay and lesbian people are there, and now after the Supreme Court’s decision to make gay marriage legal in every state, gay couples and individuals are no longer afraid to seen. So now if some people see two guys hugging, or laughing and enjoying one another’s company they will probably assume those two guys are gay, but we need to get some things straight. Just because two men enjoy one another’s company and are together a lot does NOT mean they are gay. Is it possible? Of course! But no one should assume, or judge, another person’s sexual ideas simply because they have a deep friendship with someone else of the same sex. Two guys hanging out and having a good time is not gay. Two guys embracing is not a gay. Society may tell you it is, but the Bible tells you differently (see Eccl. 4:9-10, John 15:12-15, 1 Pet. 4:8). Look at David and Jonathan’s friendship in the Old Testament. David and Jonathan were extremely close. They loved each other in way that the world would say is gay, but we should look at David and Jonathan’s relationship as a great example of what a good relationship should be between two friends of the same gender . A good friendship is emotional. Good friends express their love for one another. This kind of friendship is not gay; it is a friendship that you should strive for. Can a deep friendship become wrong? Absolutely, the Bible condemns homosexuality (Rom. 1:26, 27), but having a strong friendship with a person of the same gender as you does not mean you are gay or homosexual and don’t let anyone convince you it is.
